Brian Turner grew up in Asheville, NC. He left Western North Carolina to earn a B.A. in Economics from Northwestern University and an MBA from Wake Forest University. After spending time living and working in Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles, Brian returned home with his wife, Katina, and their daughter, Eleanor. Today, as a commercial broker associate for NAI Beverly-Hanks, he is focused on giving back to his hometown, both locally and from the state capital.
Brian is an active community leader focused on strengthening our schools, community colleges, and universities. He has served on the boards of United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County, the UNC Asheville Foundation, the A-B Tech Foundation, Mountain Area Child and Family Center, and the Civic Center Commission.
Brian also serves in the North Carolina General Assembly representing Buncombe County’s District 116. In that position, he sits on several committees, including the General Appropriations, Appropriations for Agriculture, Natural and Economic Resources, and Homeland Security, Military, and Veteran’s Affairs Committees.
“I want to listen to the concerns of people and the businesses in our region that are affected daily by the decisions made in Raleigh. I want to give voice to those concerns. And I want to ensure the interests of this community are being fairly and honestly represented in the capital,” says Brian.
He believes that a strong education system both attracts stable, well-paying jobs to the region, and builds the skills necessary to create a robust small business community. “These businesses are the foundation of a strong local economy,” says Brian. “They are the businesses we all know, the businesses that have been here for generations.”
Brian focuses on the future of many of these homegrown businesses in his commercial real estate practice. Read more about Brian and how you can build upon our local business foundations together.
